Biafran agitators that cannot recite Biafra Anthem
It is appalling that as Biafran soldiers, many agitators find it almost impossible to recite the Biafra Anthem. Before making up your mind to be an advocate, or pursuer of any dream, one is supposed to know the visions and missions of that particular concept. Biafra as a concept or dream to be realized by her agitators has a unified mission, vision, values, and other things which glorifies her(Biafra), embedded in her anthem. Merriam Webster dictionary defines anthem as “a usually rousing popular song that typifies, or is identified with a particular subculture, movement, or point of view”. This implies that anybody claiming loyalty to Biafra must first know how to recite the Biafran Anthem.
A Biafran Agitator identified as…(name withheld) said he cannot sing Biafra Anthem because he was not taught and he do not know it, but he supports Biafra. In his own word, he said… “I don’t know how to sing Biafra anthem, nobody teach me, but wetin I know be say, I want Biafra, and Biafra must come…”
Another strong supporter of the movement that lives within Onitsha, a commercial area in Anambra state who pleaded anonymous said he cannot recite the anthem because he does not have time to learn the anthem.
Biafran frontiers should do well to educate their followers on what is supposed to be known, if they really want to achieve what they are clamoring for as it is not a one-man show.
Biafra Anthem
Land of the rising sun, we love and cherish,
Beloved homeland of our brave Heroes;
We must defend our lives or we shall perish ,
We shall protect our hearts from all our foes,
But if the price is death for we hold dear,
Then let us die without a shred of fear.
Hail to Biafra, consecrated nation,
Oh fatherland, this be our solemn pledge:
Defending thee shall be a dedication,
Spilling our blood we’ll count a privilege;
The waving standard which emboldens the free
Shall always be our flag of liberty.
We shall emerge triumphant from this ordeal,
And through the crucible unscathed we’ll pass;
When we are poised the wounds of battle to heal,
We shall remember those who died in mass;
Then shall our trumpets peal glorious song
Of victory we scored o’er might and wrong.
Oh God, protect us from the hidden pitfall,
Guide all our movements lest we go astray;
Give us strength to heed the humanist call:
To give and not to count the cost each day;
Bless those who rule to serve with resoluteness,
To make this clime a land of righteousness.
