Generator fume kills family in Kogi state
A family of four was found dead in their house on Monday in Obajana part of Kogi state. The man was identified as Mr. John Oluwasegun Adewale. The family was suspected to be killed by the fumes from their generator which they kept indoors. This incident happened around Friday/Saturday but was noticed on Monday when the stench from their decomposing bodies became strong and noticeable. The family includes a man of around 35years, the wife who should be below 30, their daughter around 4years, and their son of about 3months. People have been advised to stop keeping their generator indoors when on, as Carbon dioxide and Carbon monoxide are very harmful to the body.
Speaking during an interview with DAILY POST on Monday, the Commissioner for Environment, Kogi State Mrs. Rosemary Osikoya explained that his Ministry will liaise with other agencies in the sensitization of the public on the dangers of carbon dioxide and monoxide in their Environment.
“Looking at it from the environmental point of view and the circumstantial evidence available, we have a generator put in an enclosed place, if what we hear is correct, you will find out that there is not enough of it going out, so that possibly could lead to poisoning.
