Voters swim home amidst dirt after election in Surulere, Lagos

Some major parts of Lagos state have been flooded after today’s continuous rainfall. Our correspondents reported that places like Surulere, Satellite, Somolu were over flooded. The flood pushed out the refuse which were improperly disposed, to roads and people’s compounds. The rain also caused a low turnout for the local government and LCDA elections which took place today in Lagos, as people could not go out under the rain. The people who managed to go for the election were found swimming amidst dirt and refuse on their way home. This case of flooding has posed a great threat to Lagos occupants. People have been advised to desist from blocking the drainages with refuse dumps because it contributes immensely to flooding.
