Anambra Guber: Group raises alarm over PDP running mate imposition

News reaching mazinwosublog.com reveals that tension is not yet over in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Anambra State as some aggrieved members are alleging that the running mate, Barr Chidi Ekwueme-Onyemelukwe picked for Obaze, is a non-card-carrying PDP member.

According to MyNationNews, a new congress group led by Pastor Emma Obiorah has raised the alarm that the pro­cess is likely to spoil the fun for (PDP), during the election.

The group went further to urge the National Working Committee (NWC), National Executive Council (NEC) and the state caretaker committee to reverse the nomination or face the wrath of the masses.

In their protest statement in Awka yesterday, which was made available to reporters and signed by Pastor Emma Obiorah, the group said they would not allow some cabals to hijack (PDP) again in the state.

MyNationNewsreported that the National Working Committee (NWC) had earlier told the Anglican Church to provide a credible person to be the deputy governorship can­didate to Mr. Oseloka Obaze and must be a card carrying member of PDP.

According to the group “we are giving (NWC) and the state caretaker committee one week to reverse their decision on the position of deputy, whose name had been forwarded to the (NEC) and if they fail, the masses will be left with no oth­er option than to take decision of theirs”.

However, the fresh congress group commended the party and its stakeholders for bring­ing out Oseloka Obaze as its candidate, adding that he was the only person to win the election for (PDP) among the other aspirants during the primary.

They alleged that the woman being imposed on the party in the state was not a card carry­ing member of the party and not known in the state, adding that it was only because her fa­ther was influential in (PDP).

Fresh group listed names like Mr. Goddy Mbakwe from Awka South, Chief Ndubuisi Nwobu Awka South, Hon. Maurice Anorue Ezinifite and Emeka Ukachukwu from Oki­ja as the pool to pick from as deputy for Obaze.

“We have accepted Obaze even as a new member of the party, but we require a card carrying member of the party to be his deputy for the con­test and who is equally known in the state, if they really want the grassroots to support the party” the group said.
