Ozubulu Church killings: Bishop says no church activity yet in the church

 Following the outrageous shooting and killing at St Phillips Catholic Church, Amakwa Ozubulu, in Anambra, which led to the death of 13 worshippers and other casualties, the Nnewi Catholic Diocese which controls the affairs of the victim church has made it known that there will not be any church service there this coming Sunday. This was made known through Director of Communications of the Catholic Diocese of Nnewi, Rev Father Hyginus Aghaulo. Reason is to enable the police finish their work on the crime scene as it is a criminal offence.

He said: “There are many aspects to the Ozubulu incident and because it is a criminal offence, we are not going to pressurize the police to leave the church without completing their work.”

“If the police remove the security gadgets mounted round the church, we will use it on Sunday; otherwise we will find an alternative place. There is no way we can muscle the police out of the church.”
